Production of MSME sector up by 30.72%: Muniyappa

New Delhi, Apr 23(KNN)  The gross output of the MSME Sector has seen a growth rate of 30.72 per cent as per the fourth All India Census of Small Scale Industries published in 2011-12 when compared to the third census published in 2004.
 
“Annual compound growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) is 13.51 per cent at current prices during the same period,” said the data published by Central Statistics Office, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
 
This information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, K H Muniyappa in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha yesterday.
 
The production in MSMEs is facilitated by the government by implementing various schemes/programmes relating to credit, infrastructure development, technology upgradation, marketing, entrepreneurial/skill development etc.
 
Some of the major schemes include Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, Performance and Credit Rating Scheme, Cluster Development Programme, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme and Skill Development Programme.
 
Information on the production of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country is collected by conducting All India Census of the sector, periodically.
 
The Third All India Census of Small Scale Industries (with base reference year 2001-02), was published in 2004 and the Fourth All India Census of Small Scale Industries (with base reference year 2006-07) wherein data was collected till 2009 was published in 2011-12. (KNN)
