Programme on power management to empower the sector

Faridabad, May 31 (KNN)  In order to boost the power sector which is facing crisis these days, the National Power Training Institute (NTPI) has organising a programme on Power Management.

A two year full time MBA programme that will commence on August-1, it is ideal for those who have completed Bachelors of Engineering or an equivalent degree. 

According to an official notification, candidates are advised to attend on-the-spot-admission which comprises group discussion, personal interview and counselling, all on the same day (June-24) starting at 9:30 am. 

In the first year, students take courses in major functional / general management areas like human resources, operations, finance and accounting, marketing, information technology and core power sector areas.

Subsequently, in the second year, students take compulsory specialized courses in the area of power and management.  In addition they have to opt from a list of electives covering various specific courses from the areas of power and management.

The program is targeted towards fresh and practicing engineers and is a unique opportunity for them to learn about the management of power utilities. 

In addition to the inputs provided in regular MBA programs, the program lends special emphasis on specific power sector issues and ethos to give extra strength to the Indian power sector engineers to steer the power sector of the country during the challenging times ahead.

The curriculum design and the learning process emphasize the development of students' skills and abilities to apply management theories and concepts to live problems of the electricity industry. The course is duly recognized by AICTE and affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

NPTI that comes under the Ministry of Power is a national apex body for training and human resources development in the power sector with its corporate office at Faridabad.

NPTI operates on an all India basis through its units in different power zones of the country located at Faridabad, Neyveli, Durgapur, Badarpur, New Delhi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Guwahati, Nangal Centre for Advanced Management.  (KNN)
