PSUs to give details of purchases from MSMEs

New Delhi, Apr 30 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has asked Public Sector Units (PSUs) and other departments to give details of their purchases made from small units in 2012-13. 

PSUs and ministerial departments have also been asked for details of annual procurement for the current fiscal.   

"The government ministries/departments/PSUs have been requested to provide details of procurement made from Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) owned by SC/ST in 2012-13 and details of annual procurement plan for 2013-14," Minister of State for MSME K H Muniyappa said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. 

Under the Public Procurement Policy which is in effect from April 1, 2012, every Central Ministry or Department or Public Sector Undertaking shall set an annual goal of procurement from micro and small enterprises from the financial year 2012-13 and onwards, with the objective of achieving an overall procurement of minimum of 20 per cent, of total annual purchases of products produced and services rendered by micro and small enterprises in a period of three years.

"The amount of such business provided during the current fiscal may be available by ministries/departments/PSUs after the end of 2013-14,” he added.  (KNN)
