Punjab govt exempts e-way bill on fabric for job work, FOPSIA calls this move discriminatory

New Delhi, Sept 14 (KNN) Agreeing to the demands of traders and small businesses, the Punjab government has raised the exemption limit for generating e-way bill for any type of goods from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for intra-state movement.

In yet another move, to ensure hassle free movement of fabric for job work with in state, the state government has also exempted e-way bill for transporting fabric meant for job work.

It notified that no e-way bill shall be required for transporting fabric meant for job work. However, the movement should be within the state and the distance is capped at 50 km.

Calling it a discriminatory move, Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA), President, Badish Jindal told KNN India that this way government is discriminating between traders.

The announcement made by government only exempted fabric for job work but what about labor job of other sectors, Jindal questioned.

He said that government must have tried to exempt e-way bill within state on all the commodities for job in order to help MSMEs.

Meanwhile, Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal President, Piara Lal Seth reportedly said that the exemption to fabric only of job work will benefit only big houses not MSME sector.

Over this matter, he said “We have requested the Finance Minister to include all textile articles such as shawls, knitwear, readymade and blankets meant for job work for exemption.”
