Punjab to put in place IT systems to implement e-governance

Chandigarh, Jan 21 (KNN)  As a part of its e-governance initiative, Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS) has proposed a state data centre (SDC) project here.

It will soon be appointing a data centre operator (DCO) for the project under the national e-governance plan. 

The DCO will have to design, supply, install and commission IT and non-IT infrastructure, host and manage the e-governance applications of various departments, public sector, train staff officials, maintain overall SDC infrastructure by deploying adequate skilled personnel.

In this regard, the society has invited bids from IT companies and system integrator to be service provider.

The primary objective of PSEGS is to administer the implementation of e-governance projects for the overall benefit of the citizens and public by setting up the necessary administrative, financial, legal and technical framework, implementation mechanism and resources in the state.

The projects initiated in the state are helping in good governance and improving the participation of common citizen in governance and strengthens the democracy.  (KNN/ST)
