Railways has reach in every corner of the country so there is no lack of biz for MSMEs, says supplier

New Delhi/ Varanasi March 11 (KNN) Indian Railways is the largest government department with reach at every corner of the country, a supplier to Diesel Locomotive in Varanasi said adding that the Railways give good business to all its suppliers.

He said this in response to the Locomotives Export Contract that the Indian Railways PSU RITES signed with Myanmar Railways.

Most of the locomotive engines are being developed in the Varanasi factory where railway procures material from the local industry.

Talking to KNN, the Marketing Manager of Precision Equipments Company, Sumit Raisinghani from Varanasi said that it is not going to give much business to the local suppliers as only around 10 engines are to be supplied in Myanmar.

He said India has only around 6000 locomotive diesel engines.

Elaborating about the local railway parts manufactures, he said that railway is the biggest government department which has a reach in the every corner of the country so the MSMEs don’t have any lack of work and demand.

India will supply 18 Meter Gauge 1350 HP Diesel Electric Locomotives to Myanmar to augment locomotive fleet of Myanmar Railways to meet increasing demand for passenger and freight traffic. The supply contract of locomotives is a vital project being funded under an existing line of credit extended to Myanmar by Government of India. These locomotives will be manufactured by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi with several modern features like microprocessor controls, fuel-efficient engine and ergonomic cab design etc. (KNN Bureau)
