Rajasthan showcases its cultural heritage in Kerala

Kozhikode, Jun 8 (KNN) Rajasthan’s artistic and cultural traditions are being exhibited over a 17-day handloom and handicraft exhibition in Kerala.
With a focus on traditional handlooms, Rajasthan Cotton Fab showcases a wide variety of products such as kantha sarees, khadi sarees, chanderi silk cotton sarees, gagra choli and dhabu block-printed saree.
Having commenced on May-31, the exhibition organised by the Taj Bahuddeshiya Sahakari Samithi with a goal to promote the products of long established traditional artisans in the nation features a variety of the ethnic Indian fabric.
The exhibition which is a cultural integration of sorts has managed to attract a huge crowd to see the rich collection of handloom products from various states of the country.
One of the main objectives of the exhibition other than promoting the sector is to market products without middlemen, said a media report quoting the manager of Taj Bahuddeshiya.
The exhibition has as many as 54 stalls including a stall exclusively devoted to aboriginal paintings from Odisha.
It also offers a 20 per cent discount on all products being sold here.
Significantly, master craftsmen from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana are present there to participate in the exhibition with their eye-catching handloom products.
After completing their tour of Kerala, the artisans plan to exhibit in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Such exhibitions enable artisans to get their hard work acknowledged and earn a fair income from their crafts with proper exposure.
Apart from sarees, churidars, bags made of silk cloth, children’s attire, Rajasthan blankets, silk bags, curtains and ornaments are other major attractions at the expo that ends on June-18. (KNN)
