RBI Central Board meets in Goa to review economic situation, domestic challenges

Goa, May 14 (KNN) A meeting of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India met was held here today to review the current economic situation and global and domestic challenges and policy responses.
 
The meeting was attended by RBI Governor Raghuram G. Rajan, who chaired the meeting. Anil Kakodkar, Kiran Karnik, Nachiket Mor, Y. H. Malegam, Ila Bhatt, Indira Rajaraman, and Damaodar Acharya, Directors, also attended the meeting. Deputy Governors H. R. Khan, Urjit R. Patel, R. Gandhi and S. S. Mundra were also present.
 
The Central Board meets at least once every quarter. Apart from holding meetings in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and one in New Delhi after the Union Budget which is addressed by the Finance Minister, the rest of the meetings are held in other state capitals by rotation.
 
The main function of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank is to provide overall direction to the Reserve Bank’s affairs. (KNN Bureau)
