Reimbursement of expenses under total quality management in food processing sector

New Delhi, Sept 15 (KNN) The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) is inviting applications from different entities for reimbursement of expenditure under total quality management.

“Central/state government organisations and units in private sectors are eligible for reimbursement of 50 per cent of towards implementation of Total Quality Management System including ISO 9000, ISO 22000, GHP and GMP subject to a maximum of Rs 17 lakh in general areas and 75 per cent of the expenditure subject to maximum of Rs 22 lakh in difficult areas,” said a press notification.

MOFPI is implementing the scheme of hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) to motivate the food processing industry for adoption of food safety and quality assurance mechanisms.

It said the scheme provides one time reimbursement only against an Industrial Entrepreneur Memoranda (IEM)/ Permanent SSI Registration/ Industrial License and FSSAI Licence.
“The grant would be reimbursement of expenditure incurred on acquiring ISO 9000, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and GHP Certification. For consideration of grant, preference would be given to proposals for units processing perishable items like fruits, vegetables, milk, meat, poultry, etc,” said MoFPI.

HACCP scheme was adopted to enable adherence to stringent quality and hygiene norms in food processing units and thereby protect consumer health. (KNN/ST)
