Run shops, spa in five star hotels

“Vacant spaces are available for licensing out in Hotels – The Ashok, Hotel Samrat and Hotel Janpat, New Delhi for commercial purposes, namely shops, offices, high end restaurants, pubs, international restaurant cum night club, discotheque, bank, spa or showroom for luxury items including cars, etc,” said an official notification from India Tourism Development Corporation Limited (ITDC) today.
Shops in hotels are quite popular among businessmen, especially those on short visits who want to take gifts to their folks back home. With their official work taking up most of their time, they prefer to buy something from the facilities available at the hotel rather make trips to the local markets.
Another trend that has caught on in a big way is the spa that promises therapies to bust stress. Similarly night clubs and discotheques draw both young and old to relax and get away from it all, in an alien environment.
It is this segment of people (businessmen and international tourists) that hotels like to bank on, considering that the other run of the mill tourists prefer to explore indigenous markets, hoping to get good bargains. (KNN/ES)
