'Seekho aur Kamao' to provide placement based skill training for minorities

New Delhi, Nov 12 (KNN) The skill development scheme "Seekho aur Kamao" translated 'learn and earn' and other skill development initiatives of the Ministry of Minority Affairs will provide ensured placement based skill training for minorities.

These schemes were discussed in the first meeting of the Consultative Committee for the year 2014-15 recently chaired by Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Najma Heptulla and Minister of State, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. 

Further, they also discussed the skill Development component under Multi- Sectoral Development Programme which envisages that at least 10 per cent of the allocation given to the State would be earmarked for activities related to skill training to minority youth.

The committee was also informed about the upcoming scheme “Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTTAD)” and launching of Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS).

Members of the committee including Abu Hasem Khan Choudhary, Anwhar Raajhaa, Asaduddin Owaisi, ET Mohammed Basheer, Idris Ali and MI Shanavas (Lok Sabha) and Joy Abraham and Mohammed Adeeb (Rajya Sabha) attended the meeting. (KNN/ST)
