SIDBI distributes awards in MSE segment

New Delhi, Oct 17 (KNN) Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), the apex financial institution engaged in the promotion, financing and development of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), acknowledged the achievements of MSEs and recognized the efforts of lenders who have taken illustrative steps for easing access to finance in this sector.

These 2nd series of awards were given to the outstanding performers in MSE segment in four categories with five awards in each category namely, best MSE exporter, most tech savvy MSE, women MSE achiever, most innovative entrepreneur and best employment generating MSE. To recognize such lenders who go beyond bounds to strengthen the MSEs, special category awards for noteworthy efforts in MSE lending segment to banks, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and fintech companies were given. These awards are instituted by SIDBI in association with The Economic Times,CRISIL Limited being the knowledge partner.

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Nitin Gadkari and Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur graced the occasion. The awards ceremony was held in New Delhi.

Nitin Gadkari expressed his pleasure over the efforts of SIDBI to acknowledge the illustrative MSEs of the country. He also congratulated the winners and motivated them to strive to exceed their own expectations.

Later, the Minister briefed the audience about the various policy effects for the development of MSME sector and encouraged the entrepreneurs to take benefit of the same.

Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur addressed the audience and congratulated SIDBI for organizing such an event for the MSE sector. He expressed hope that the sector will continue to show exemplary growth and will emerge as an achiever in the growth story of India.

On this occasion Mohammad Mustafa, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, SIDBI, said, “The awards are intended to promote, encourage and recognize the efforts of those MSE entrepreneurs who have developed and grown their units in a unique manner and created a benchmark through their excellent performance and achievements.''

''The objective is also to recognize the contribution of MSEs which have established themselves as role models for aspirants and other MSEs besides acknowledging and disseminating the information about the contributions by these MSEs in various sectors of economy. The awards intend to give next leap of growth to MSE through mentoring and management development programme from institutes of repute. With a view to increase its reach to the unserved and underserved segments of the MSE sector, SIDBI has adopted Vision 2.0 and has reoriented its focus keeping this segment in mind. Under the flagbearer mission ‘Swavalamban’,  SIDBI strives to induce entrepreneurship culture pan India. Endeavour is to bring a shift in the mindset of the Indian society to evolve as job creators,” he added.
