SIEMA submits DPR to develop smart pump; works towards boosting micro units in pump industry

Coimbatore, June 27 (KNN) The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association (SIEMA) is working towards upgrading the micro enterprises from the pump industry to macro level.

The association has plans to enter into agreements with educational institutions for technology transfer and training the students in engineering.

“To ensure the growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from micro to macro level, it is time to boost MSMEs to produce more pumps to enter into the domestic as well as international market,” said KK Rajan, the newly elected president of SIEMA.

He also said that SIEMA is planning to enter MoUs with Educational Institutions for the technology transfer, training the young generation in the engineering field and also with financial institutions such as ICRA, CRISIL, SMERA etc., for getting credit rating by our member.

SIEMA has submitted a detailed project report to develop a smart pump, which has reportedly been approved by the Union Government.

The association office-bearers held a meeting with Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Ravi Capoor, in this regard and explained the market condition and the state of the pump industry to him.

Rajan said, “We have submitted our Detailed Project Report to the Ministry of Commerce and also to the Department of Heavy Industry. The project will be a jointly undertaken by SIEMA and Si’Tarc. This will help the industry to develop pumps with the latest technologies and help to compete in the international market.”

“We are also planning to produce pump sets with better quality but at the same time with lower cost.  This will increase market share of the Coimbatore pump industry,” he added. (KNN Bureau)
