Sitharaman inaugurates a day-long conference on Startup India

New Delhi, July 23 (KNN) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry (Independent Charge) Nirmala Sitharaman has inaugurated a daylong conference on Startup India today. At this platform all stakeholders particularly states discussed the progress and policies they have made on the Startup India initiative.

The conference was organised by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) in New Delhi.

The startup India initiative was launched in January this year.

Speaking at the gathering, Nirmala Sitharaman said that she would meet with all the angel investors and angel networks to facilitate conducive startup ecosystem.

She would be meeting the Vice Chancellors of the Universities, private equity firms, Startup founders, educational institutions having incubators or entrepreneurship cells to foster an enabling environment for startups and with journalists dedicatedly covering the evolution of startup India initiative on the agenda.

The conference has served as a platform for all States to discuss the progress, policies and good practices they have made on the Startup India initiative. State Governments of Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala and Karnataka have been presenting the initiatives undertaken by them to promote Startups. Besides the States, Startups, Investors, Incubators and various ministries and departments of Government of India related to Startups were the part of separate panel discussions on various facets of the Startup India initiative and the Startup ecosystem as a whole.

The Startups have shared their growth stories and expectations from the government, the investors will deliberate on access of funds in different stages of the Startup life-cycle. (KNN Bureau)
