Skill Development Mission introduces Aadhar based biometric attendance to check inflated enrolments

New Delhi, July 30 (KNN) To keep a check on the inflated enrolments in the name of skill development, the Skill Development Mission has introduced Aadhaar-based biometric attendance.

This initiative will not only help to keep the fraudulent enrolments in check but will also help in improving the quality of the skill training imparted.

“The Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system is utilized for marking real time attendance of the enrolled candidate and carrying out the registration procedure efficiently,” Skill Development Mission Director Andra Vamsi said.

Vamsi further said that there were around three lakh candidates enrolled in the Skill Development Mission for the financial year 2021-22, only about 1.5 attended the courses and the rest 1.5 lakh were in the training pipeline.

The Skill Development Mission, through its district project management units, successfully conducted the mobilisation drive to pool up these absentees.

The Aadhar based attendance will also play a role in financial payments. The payments will now be subject to the visibility of Aadhaar-enabled biometric attendance of the candidates, which makes it easy for the Mission to impart qualitative training.

As per reports, with the launch of Aadhaar-enabled biometric attendance, SDM stopped payment of those skill centres that failed to be physically present.

The Uttar Pradesh government is leading by example. The state authorities have intensified its drive to promote the use of technology in different departments to curb departmental pilferages and maintain transparency.  (KNN Bureau)
