Skill Development scheme for textile sector gets cabinet nod, industry concerned over implementation

New Delhi, Dec 21 (KNN) The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the green signal to the new scheme for skill development scheme, the industry comprising of a fair share of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) while welcomes the decision, it is concerned over the implementation part of the scheme.

The new scheme is to have an allocation of over 1,300 crore, targeting towards jobs in the organised textile and related sectors.

Talking to KNN, Arvind Sinha, President of the Textile Association said that it is too early to comment over the provisions that are announced in the new scheme.

However if one was to do the initial assessment, the scheme is bound to receive a warm welcome from the industry, he informed

However it is important to explore how would the scheme sound in implementation when it comes to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that do not fall in the rigid organized structure.

He further said that often schemes lose its essence when it graduates from announcement into implementation.

With regard to the expectation from the industry with regard to the new scheme, Sinha said that the industry had higher expectation from the ministry in comparison to what is announced.

Earlier the government announced similar scheme for the leather sector that too got the consent of the cabinet last week. (KNN/DA)
