Skilling students for sugar and alcohol industry

The National Sugar Institute, an academic body set up by the Ministry of Consumer affairs, Food and Public Distribution has invited applications for Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Sugar Technology, Sugar Engineering and Alcohol Technology disciplines.
Skill shortage is one of the major constraints to growth of many sectors, especially the small and medium sectors in India.
Being job oriented courses; the students passing out from these courses can get easy placements in sugar and allied industry.
It is worthwhile to mention that students from many other countries such as America, Australia, Ethiopia, Philippines, Iran, Iraq, Canada, Fiji, and Sri Lanka etc, are also enrolled for training at the National Sugar Institute in Kanpur. The pass outs from this Institute have taken on senior positions in the sugar and allied industry not only in the country but abroad also.
National Sugar Institute, Kanpur since its inception in 1936 has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the Indian Sugar and Alcohol industry by providing specifically trained manpower.
The institute also conducts short duration Certificate Courses like - Sugar Boiling Certificate Course, Sugar Engineering Certificate Course, Pre-Harvest Cane Maturity Survey Course and Certificate Course in Quality Control.
The process of admission for the academic session 2014-15 of the Institute has started. The last date for submission of the applications is April 11, 2014. The details of the courses, examination pattern, centre and syllabus etc. are available on the Institute’s website. (KNN/SD)
