'Small Business Leadership Summit' held in Chandigarh to promote entrepreneurship, biz opportunities in EV domain

Chandigarh, Dec 23 (KNN) The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chandigarh, in association with Chandigarh Administration organised a regional 'Small Business Leadership Summit' here. The regional summit was also supported by GIZ and Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles.

GIZ is implementing a bilateral Programme for Modernization and Innovation in Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME INNO) across many states in India.

During the Summit, held last week, GIZ presented the MSME INNO project activities in Punjab and the journey overall. The regional coordinator GIZ deliberated on role of industry associations, industry academia linkages, incubation systems and government in fostering an innovation ecosystem for MSMEs.

In the summit, the participants from industry, academia, start-up ecosystem, civil society and local government held a focussed discussions on start-up fundraising approach & models, challenges & opportunities in both manufacturing and services sector.

The Director of Industries & Secretary State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration highlighted upon export promotion and technical infrastructure requirements of industries in the tri-city and urged MSMEs to take benefits of Government of India Schemes for MSMEs.

Sharing his views on the lifecycle of entrepreneurship, the Managing Director, IDS Infotech Ltd. stressed upon the importance of investing capital in the organisation through diversification or by new setting up new business lines, U-Clean (an urban laundry services provider company) highlighted the role of brand building and franchisee model in upscaling businesses.

A session was also held on fundraising approaches and models garnered views and inputs from Angel Investors, Co-working Space providers, Chartered Accountants, legal experts and industry representatives.

A dedicated interactive roundtable session on E-mobility garnered information on draft EV policy of Chandigarh.

Later, the EV manufacturers, service providers, shared their views on the current technological challenges in EV value chain and need of innovative business models to increase penetration of EVs across different sectors. IIT Ropar shared their research initiatives in the field of EVs and gathered suggestions from manufacturers on technological intervention required.
