Hyderabad, Mar 18 (KNN)  The small and medium enterprises in the IT and ITES industry contribute more than 20 per cent of the overall export revenues of USD 108 billion, according to an industry assessment.

To promote further contribution of SMEs to the industry, the IT and ITES Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITSAP), an apex body of 300 IT and ITES industries in the state is organizing an annual ITSAP SME conference here tomorrow.

“As the Indian IT/ITES industry enters the next phase of growth, small and medium enterprise (SME) sector has the potential to be one of the key drivers. IT/ITES SMEs have built niche products and services, which have helped them grow and compete globally,” ITSAP said in a statement.

“They now contribute to more than 20 per cent of the overall export revenue estimated at USD 108 billion during the FY2013. In spite of the impressive performance and the key role the SMEs play, they encounter many stumbling blocks: Market access, funding, attract and retain talent, leadership development, domain knowledge,” it added.

Minister of State, MSME, Government of India, K H Muniyappa will be one of the key speakers at the event along with former Telecom secretary and current NASSCOM national president R Chandrashekhar.

Some of the key areas that the one-day meet will cover include technology overview, evolving opportunities, business models and opportunities in e-commerce and BFSI according to ITSAP president V Rajanna. (KNN/SD)
