Solar Energy Scheme for small powerloom units to come into effect from Apr 1, 2017

New Delhi, Mar 16 (KNN) The government’s new scheme to provide financial assistance/capital subsidy to small powerloom units, for installation of Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) plant, will come into effect from April 1, 2017.

The Minister of State, Textiles, Ajay Tamta today informed Parliament that the Government has approved a new scheme to provide financial assistance/capital subsidy to small powerloom units, for installation of Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) plant, in order to alleviate the problem of power cut/ shortage faced by decentralized powerloom units in the country.

Under the Solar Energy Scheme, the plants have two options - On-Grid Solar Power Plant where power cut/shortage is negligible and power tariff is high; and Off-Grid Solar Power Plant in areas where there is power shortage & on-grid power is not continuously available.

Under the scheme, subsidies for different SPV plants will be given in the range of Rs 2,25,000 to Rs 8,55,000 depending upon the capacity of the SPV plant and the category viz General, SC or ST. (KNN Bureau)

Renewable energy can save environment from climate change. Renewable energy sources are free to use. Solar panel installation and equipments are costlier but it can give more profit on saving electricity bills.
