DPDP Act & Rules Notified: Government Announces Simplified Compliance For Start-Ups

New Delhi, Dec 3 (KNN) The Government has notified the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), along with the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, on 13 November 2025, establishing timelines for the phased implementation of key provisions and enabling the notification of the Digital Data Protection Board (DPB).

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 3 December 2025, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada informed that the Act and Rules introduce a simplified compliance framework for start-ups and certain categories of data fiduciaries.

The framework also empowers the Government to notify jurisdictions where the transfer of personal data may be restricted.

To support widespread understanding and adoption of the DPDP framework, the Government is undertaking extensive awareness and capacity-building initiatives.

These include workshops, conferences, expert sessions, and digital outreach campaigns aimed at educating citisens about their rights and responsibilities under the law.
