Electric flying taxis to become reality soon with DGCA approval of design

Chennai, May 24 (KNN) The Chennai-based deep tech start-up, ePlane Company on Tuesday announced that they have secured the approval of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the design of its Electric flying taxis.

The ePlane Company, an Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) incubated company is developing Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The Design Organisation Approval (DOA) is the first step in the aircraft certification process. The company will now begin the commercial production of its e200 eVTOL aircraft.

Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, Founder and CEO, The ePlane Company said, “We are delighted to receive the DOA certificate from the DGCA, This is a major milestone for our company, it is a crucial first step in the aircraft certification process and paves another stone on the path towards commercialisation of our e200 eVTOL aircraft.”

“It gives us immense pleasure to announce that ePlane is the first startup in India to be approved as a Design Organisation and one of the very few private entities for complete aircraft design," he added.

The ePlane company envisions to alleviate congestion in urban spaces by offering accessible, affordable and sustainable flying experiences to people around the world.  (KNN Bureau)
