Start-up database necessary for integrating entrepreneurs with business ecosystem: Union Minister Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Jan 17 (KNN) There should be a comprehensive database of all start-ups in the country, as this will lead to greater integration of start-ups with the broader business ecosystem, said Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday.

Addressing the National Start-up Awards function (2022) in New Delhi, Goyal pointed out that such a database will help both the public and the private sectors to source goods and services from start-ups in a more vigorous way, thus creating more business opportunities for these entities.

Although the DPIIT maintained database is rapidly expanding in the recent years, there are many entities that are still not registered.

The National Start-up awards were organised with the aim to reward outstanding start-ups and enablers which have demonstrated exceptional capabilities not just in terms of financial gains, but also for the measurable impact for the society.

As many as 41 start-ups, two incubators and one accelerator were awarded in the latest edition of the awards function. Some of these winners have emerged from tier-2 and tier-3 cities from states, including Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha and Kerala.

Start-ups in the health and wellness category grabbed the maximum number of awards (6), followed by those in industry 4.0 (5), agriculture and education & skill development (4 each), fintech, enterprise technology and energy (3 each), media & entertainment, construction, transportation and security (2 each).  (KNN Bureau)
