Startups stand up against Google for imposing unfair service fees

New Delhi, Oct 28 (KNN) Startups and developers in India have voiced their opinion  against Google’s service fees levied for services and digital items sold through its Play Store.

This comes after the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) ruling earlier this week, which imposed a Rs 936 crore fine on the technology major for anti-competitive billing practices on the Play Store.

It has acted as stimulus for startups who were already pushing for lowering the company’s intended commission rate, said industry stakeholders.

The clash between app store operators Google and Apple and developers isn’t a new one.

In this tiff against Google’s fees founders of firms such as Paytm and Bharat Matrimony have also spoken up against it.   (KNN Bureau)
