Two-Day Startup Fest To Begin In Coimbatore On Aug 19

Coimbatore, Aug 17 (KNN) The Tamil Nadu government is organising a two-day startup fest at the Codissia trade fair complex in Coimbatore on August 19-20, 2023.

The startup fest aims to attract investments and guide startups to make use of the ecosystem available for them in the state.

Speaking with the media on Wednesday, district collector Kranthi Kumar Pati said, “ The state government is encouraging startups that use new and innovative technologies. This will be a level playing field for young entrepreneurs brimming with ideas. The fest is part of the state government’s initiative to make Tamil Nadu a pioneer in the startup ecosystem.”

As per reports, Chief minister M K Stalin will inaugurate the fest through video conferencing, while housing and urban development minister S Muthusamy, micro, small and medium enterprises minister Anbarasan and industries minister T R B Rajaa will participate in the event. 

Speaking about the upcoming startup fest, Sivarajah Ramanathan, chief executive officer, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, said, “the world had witnessed a revolution in technology in the past 25 years and innovative ideas had opened the doors for fresh opportunities. So, it is necessary to create space for the youngsters who come up with innovative ideas and technological know-how to create employment and economic opportunities for the next generation.” 

“Given that Tamil Nadu has the maximum number of industries in the country and is the second major contributor to the country’s gross domestic product, it is our mission to make the state a foremost player in the field of startups,” he said.

The state government’s startup fest will feature 450 stalls, where 90 per cent of local startups would exhibit their products. It is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors.

During the course of the event, a conference would be held to would delve into the startup climate and opportunities available with the government. The event will also feature exclusive sessions to discuss investment related queries and opportunities for women entrepreneurs.  (KNN Bureau)
