Startups & entrepreneurs key for growth of Toy industry: PM Modi

New Delhi, Aug 1 (KNN) While lauding the efforts of the Indian Toy industry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that youngsters, start-ups and entrepreneurs have played an important role in the growth of the industry.

India’s toy imports in recent times has decreased by 70 per cent. “It is a matter of joy that during this period, India has exported toys worth more than Rs 2,600 crore to foreign countries. Whereas earlier, only toys worth Rs 300-400 crore used to go out of India. All this happened during the Covid period,” he said.

During his address at the ‘Mann ki Baat’ broadcast, the PM highlighted that the toy sector has proven its mettle by transforming itself, with manufacturers now making toys based on Indian mythology, history and culture.

Small entrepreneurs are benefitting the most from the recent initiatives launched by the government. The emerging toy clusters are playing an important role in providing opportunity to the entrepreneurs to work closely with the world’s leading brands.

“Let us all together make Indian toys more popular all over the world. Along with this, I would also like to urge the parents to buy more and more Indian toys, puzzles and games,”PM said.

The Indian toy industry’s rise is a result of the Make In India initiative that provided a quick and easy process to find space for manufacturing under various special economic zones (SEZs).  (KNN Bureau)
