As per reports, Taiwanese team also held a meeting with the Indian authorities where the delegation was briefed about Indian government’s semiconductor mission, which envisages production-linked incentives (PLIs) worth Rs 76,000 crore or around USD 10 billion for the entire supply chain.

The four-day visit was followed up by two visits from the Indian side. Several meeting have taken place since last year to discuss collaboration in making the chips required for electronics items, communications devices, and health care systems, and motor vehicles, an official said.

Both the countries have held talks related to  free trade agreement for the creation of a semiconductor manufacturing hub in the country. In 2021, New Delhi and Taipei has setup four groups that focused on creating a semiconductor hub, training highly specialised manpower needed for the industry, a bilateral investment agreement, and a free trade agreement.

Till now there has been no official word from both the counterparts regarding the visit or any further collaboration between the two.  (KNN Bureau)
