New Delhi, Mar 10 (KNN)  To provide a good understanding on thermal degradation mechanisms in polymeric materials, designing and managing thermal aging programmes, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is organising a technical seminar on thermal endurance of polymeric materials.

The seminar with the theme ‘Determination of Long Term Thermal Endurance of Polymeric Materials’ is to be held on April 11 in Pune and April 28 in Bangalore.

The event will cover topics such as requirement of RTI values in UL end products such as understanding the challenges in material selection.  It will also discuss the UL 746B long term thermal aging such as significance of test and standard terminologies, chemical degradation mechanisms, theory behind derivation of life-equation, effectively setting up and monitoring a test program for optimized RTI ratings, selection of material properties and determining the end-point.

People from quality management like material purchase managers, design or product development engineers, plastic laboratory managers, R&D engineers, manufacturers of plastic materials used and electrical and electronic and automotive applications, plastic component suppliers, moulders, extruders and other plastic processors will be participating at the event.

UL is an independent product safety certification organization that has been writing standards for safety, testing products and is involved in conformity assessment.

The laboratory evaluates more than 19,722 types of products, components, materials and systems annually with 23 billion UL Marks appearing on 66,932 manufacturer’s products in the global marketplace each year. (KNN/ST)
