Technical textiles to get separate export promotion council: MoS Textiles

New Delhi, April 12 (KNN) The government is planning to set up a separate export promotion council for technical textiles which will focus on increasing shipments from that particular segment, said Darshana V Jardosh, Union Minister of States for Textiles.

Inaugurating the FAB Show by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the MoS for Textiles said, “Different fields of textiles and clothing have their own export promotion councils. As technical textiles is a new addition, the government is considering of forming an export promotion council separately for it.”

She further highlighted the lack of coordination among ministries and nodal agencies under the previous governments.

The present government has ensured that all concerned departments and ministries have smooth coordination and hence there is no need for a new textile policy, she said.

Speaking on the Textiles Upgradation Fund Scheme, the Minister said that the government has to bear the brunt of various financial incentives announced by the previous government without making enough financial provisioning.

After achieving the export target in the last fiscal year, the government is all set to announce new target, she said.
