Textile industry shows faith in the new textile minister Smriti Irani

New Delhi, July 6 (KNN) The Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday wasn’t just a political imperative, it was one of governance as well. Sending this message to his party and the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only expanded his Cabinet but also effected a major redistribution of portfolios.

Smriti Irani lost the prestigious Human Resource Development Ministry to Prakash Javadekar, the lone minister promoted to Cabinet rank. Irani has been allotted Textiles, for which the Cabinet cleared a Rs 6,000-crore package just a fortnight ago.

The Textile industry welcomed Irani and said that she is very good and there is no doubt about it as she is dedicated to her task.

Talking to KNN, the President of The Textile Association, Mumbai, Arvind Sinha said that, “I am sure once she sees the textile sector; she would find it equally competitive like the HRD ministry.”

“We feel that BJP Government has already decided the agenda and Gangwar was doing equally good job. He has gone to Ministry of Finance, so probably he will be able to explain better to finance ministry what industry requires which was one of the main issues,” he added.

According to some experts, Textile Ministry is not as challenging as the HRD Ministry. This could be a move taken by the BJP in order to use Smriti Irani extensively for campaigning in Uttar Pradesh.

President also said that recently Government has given lot of incentives. Smriti Irani as a front runner would do wonderful job. She is a very good talker and presenter. (KNN/ AR)
