Textile Minister Piyush Goyal aims to achieve USD100 billion textile exports by 2030

New Delhi, April 13 (KNN) Textile Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India is set to achieve USD 100 billion of textile exports by 2030 owing to the current positive growth rate.

He highlighted the significant boost Indian exporters will receive through the recent trade deals signed with UAE and Australia as it would provide zero-duty access in these countries.

Delivering the keynote address at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the 'Confederation of Indian Textile Industry- Cotton Development and Research Association' (CITI- CDRA), the Textile Minister said that the government is also trying to get zero duty access in the markets of the European Union, Canada, the UK and member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

“The last fiscal the textiles exports stood at USD 43 billion as against USD 33 billion in the previous year and as the sector is growing at a fast pace and we should take exports to USD 100 billion by 2030,” he proposed.

He also emphasised on the need to promote cotton production in the country.

“The price of cotton is high today and the government is keeping a constant control over that, he said adding “there is a need to maintain the right balance so that farmers and the industry both get cotton at right prices,” said the Minister. (KNN Bureau)
