600 handloom clusters provided financial assistance across India

New Delhi, Dec 15 (KNN) About 600 handloom clusters have been provided financial assistance since 2015-16 till October 31, 2022, said the Ministry of Textiles on Wednesday.

In Andhra Pradesh 69 handloom clusters received the assistance, followed by 66 clusters in Tamil Nadu and 62 in Assam which are states with highest number of handloom clusters.

Ministry of Textiles provides financial assistance under National Handloom Development Programme through various components including Cluster Development Programme.

Under the scheme, need based financial assistance is provided on receipt of complete proposals as per the guidelines from State Governments.

It is for implementation of various interventions like upgraded looms & accessories, lighting units, workshed, design and product development, marketing support etc.  (KNN Bureau)
