Advanced Technologies key focus at Global Cotton Conference on November 23 in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 16 (KNN) The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) will be hosting the second edition of Global Cotton Conference 2022 on November 23 in New Delhi on the theme “Game-Changing Technologies & Traits for Achieving High Yields and Fine Quality of Cotton”.

The conference will also focus on topics concerning traceability and circularity.

Union Minister of textiles, commerce & industry, consumer affairs and food & public distribution Piyush Goyal will deliver the inaugural address as the chief guest of the event which will be held at Hotel The Park.

In the theme session, Textile Advisory Group (TAG) chairman Suresh Kotak will give a presentation on ‘Indian cotton – current and future trends’.

Nishad Nanavaty, head - Business Development, ENEN Green Services Pvt Ltd will give a presentation on ‘Tackling the textile & clothing industry’s carbon footprint’.

The first session on ‘Revamping of Cotton Breeding Programs for Efficient Use of Genetic Resources under Changing Climate’ will see participation of Dr. CD Mayee, chairman of the Board, AFC India Ltd and president, South Asia Biotechnology Centre (SABC); Dr. M Ramasami, chairman and managing director, Rasi Seeds (P) Ltd; Dr. SK Shukla, director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai; Dr. K Selvaraju, secretary general, Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA); and Dr. Keshav Kranthi, chief scientist, International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), US.

The second session will be moderated by Unupom Kausik, senior vice president, Olam India on the topic ‘Cotton – Global Raw Material Scenario’ and the final session on ‘Traceability & Circularity’ will be moderated by economist and senior journalist G Chandrashekhar.  (KNN Bureau)
