Azerbaijan opens its apparel market to Indian exporters

New Delhi, Jan 20 (KNN) Highlighting the recognition of Indian apparel and ready-made garments across the world, Vinay Kumar, Chargé d'Affaires of India in Baku said on Thursday that India has a huge scope for diversifying it economic engagement with Azerbaijan especially in the textile sector.

He said Indian apparel and ready-made garments are well known in Azerbaijan both through sale by local entrepreneurs and other global franchises.

Kumar was speaking at the India-Azerbaijan Business Meeting on Textiles Sector organised by the Embassy of India in Baku, in association with Texprocil and Founder Club.

It was held in hybrid mode with the participation of the representatives of Azerbaijani and Indian textile companies in order to explore the potential for business cooperation in textile sector.

About 20 Azerbaijani companies gathered in JW Marriott Absheron Baku to attend the event in physical mode, while their Indian counterparts joining the event in virtual mode.

He also informed the participants that more details about Indian companies in various sectors may be seen at the portal www.indianbusinessportal.in.

Speaking at the event with a keynote address, Dr Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director of Texprocil said that the business meeting would provide a useful platform to gain more knowledge and access for Indian companies into the Azerbaijani market.

He also informed that Texprocil is organising the "Ind-Texpo" Exhibition, which will be held on March 22 and 23, 2023 at the Leela Ambience Convention Hotel in New Delhi.  (KNN Bureau)
