Welcoming the move, Ashish Gujarati, President of Pandesara Weavers Co-op Society told KNN India, “The entire industry is thankful to Union Minister for Health, Mansukh Mandaviya for considering our request. In this three months we will try that the BIS guidelines meet the international standards.”

“This will eventually help us entrepreneurs and export of fabric and garment,” he said.

Gujarati further pointed out the loopholes in the existing guidelines stating that it must be aligned with the international norms which will boost our exports.

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers issued a notification on Monday in this regard. It said that 100% polyester spun grey and white yarn (IS 17265:2019) will be implemented from October 05, 2023.
