Handloom Mela underway at Madhapur in Telangana till March 1

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (KNN) The 21st edition of the Handloom Mela, organised by the Telangana Facilities Management Council (TFMC) is underway at T-Hub in Madhapur.

The fair was inaugurated by Srinivas Rao Mahankali, CEO, T-HUB Foundation on February 27, 2023.

The three-day Mela will display Gadwal Pochampally, Siddipet, IKKAT Pattu Sarees, Handicraft Products, Handloom Kurtas, etc.

TFMC aims to organize 10 melas in the year 2023. It has already conducted one this year. Through these melas, we will help the Handloom Sector sell clothes worth Rs 4 crore, informed Satyanarayana Mathala, President of TFMC in an official statement.

Organising Handloom Melas in IT offices, facilities, and Parks was an initiative TFMC embarked on in the year 2017. Since then, barring two years of the corona, five lakh IT employees were reached and awareness for handloom textiles was created.

Shanta Thoutam, Chief Innovation Officer, Telangana State Innovation Cell, Government of Telangana also graced the event. Dozens of start-up founders and co-founders also attended day 1 of the event.

Handloom Monday was a call given by K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Govt of Telangana. It was an initiative to promote handlooms and support weavers community by wearing handloom clothes every Monday.  (KNN Bureau)
