Kapas Kisan Mobile App Launched For Cotton Procurement Under MSP

New Delhi, Sep 3 (KNN) Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh launched the Kapas Kisan mobile application, developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) under the Ministry of Textiles.

The digital platform is designed to facilitate cotton procurement fr0m farmers under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme, introducing automated processes for registration, scheduling, and payment tracking.

The mobile application enables farmers to independently register for cotton sales under the MSP framework, while providing digital slot booking capabilities at designated procurement centers.

The system aims to reduce waiting times and crowd management issues at collection points. Real-time status updates inform users about quality assessments, accepted quantities, and payment processing stages.

The platform supports multiple Indian languages through a user-friendly interface designed for diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Minister Singh characterised the application as a ‘farmer-first’ initiative that advances ease of cotton sales for agricultural producers.

"By digitising key steps - right fr0m registration to payment tracking - we are ensuring timely, transparent and fair MSP operations," Singh stated during the launch event.

He emphasised the government's commitment to preventing distress sales while advancing the Digital India initiative through agricultural technology integration.

The Kapas Kisan app addresses several procedural challenges in cotton procurement operations.

The digital system reduces manual paperwork requirements and processing time at procurement centers, while enhanced transparency measures provide farmers with comprehensive transaction visibility.

The slot booking feature allows farmers to select convenient time slots, improving operational planning for both producers and procurement facilities.

The application supports the government's MSP procurement policy by providing assured purchase mechanisms that protect cotton farmers fr0m market volatility and distress sales.

The streamlined digital process aims to ensure fair price realisation while maintaining transparency in quality assessment and payment procedures.
