Ram Mandir Euphoria Brings Wave Of Prosperity For Banarasi Saree Weavers

Banaras, Jan 8 (KNN) Banarasi saree weavers are creating unique and beautiful sarees with a 'Ram Mandir' theme ahead of the temple's consecration ceremony this month.

These sarees feature custom designs, including Ram Mandir motifs on the pallu, depictions of Lord Ram's life from childhood to the killing of Ravana, and 'Shree Ram' inscriptions on the border.

As the first phase of the temple nears completion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the consecration ceremony on January 22.

The Supreme Court's 2019 verdict resolved a century-old temple-mosque dispute, supporting the construction of the Ram temple at the disputed site. As Ayodhya prepares for the consecration at the Ram Mandir, artisans nationwide express enthusiasm through unique creations.

Weaver Anisur Rahman shares the excitement among Varanasi's weaver community for this grand event. Sarees with Ram temple themes are gaining popularity, with orders from across the country.

Rahman explains the various types, including sarees with temple inscriptions on the pallu, colorful sarees with 'Shree Ram' borders, and detailed sarees depicting Lord Ram's life phases. Sarees featuring 'Ram Darbar' are also in demand, with international orders from the US. Prices range from Rs 7,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Prime Minister Modi, during his December 30, 2023 visit to Ayodhya, urged people to light special diyas to celebrate the historic Ram temple consecration ceremony on January 22.
