RMG Exports Grow 2.89% In Dec, Reflecting Industry Resilience: AEPC Chairman
New Delhi, Jan 17 (KNN) The export performance of the ready-made garments (RMG) in December 2025 reflects both the resilience and adaptability of our industry in a challenging global environment, said Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) Chairman Dr A Sakthivel.
The RMG exports recorded a modest growth of 2.89 per cent year-on-year in December.
“While demand in key international markets such as the USA has been uneven due to inflationary pressures and geopolitical uncertainties, Indian apparel exporters have managed to hold ground through product diversification, improved compliance, and a stronger focus on value-added segments,” Sakthivel noted.
On the outlook for the year, Dr Sakthivel said India’s RMG exports sector is cautiously optimistic, with a gradual improvement in global demand expected to support growth.
He also said the expected conclusion of the India–EU FTA and the imminent implementation of the UK FTA would significantly improve market access to key developed economies, providing a strong boost to India’s apparel export prospects.
