Textile & Apparel Exports Stagnate In H1 FY26

New Delhi, Nov 13 (KNN) India’s textile and apparel sector, including handicrafts, demonstrated notable resilience during the first half of FY 2025–26, despite global challenges and tariff-related pressures in key markets.

Exports of textiles, apparel, and made-ups grew marginally by 0.1 percent during April–September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

Several major markets recorded significant growth, including the UAE (14.5 percent), UK (1.5 percent), Japan (19.0 percent), Germany (2.9 percent), Spain (9.0 percent), and France (9.2 percent).

Other markets registering higher growth included Egypt (27 percent), Saudi Arabia (12.5 percent), and Hong Kong (69 percent).

During April–September 2025, these 111 markets contributed USD 8,489.08 million, up from USD 7,718.55 million in the corresponding period of the previous year—marking a 10 percent increase and a growth of USD 770.3 million.

The growth was primarily driven by key sectors such as Ready-Made Garments (RMG) of all textiles, which recorded a 3.42 percent increase, and jute, which grew by 5.56 percent.
