Three-day Handloom Mela to be held in Madhapur from Jan 10

Hyderabad, Jan 9 (KNN) A three-day handloom mela which is being organised by the Telangana Facilities Management Council (TFMC) will be held in Madhapur from January 10 to 12.

The primary aim of this fair is to support the weavers’ community and to help the sector sell clothes worth Rs 4 crore in 2023.

The 20th edition of TFMC’s mela expects to attract 5000 IT employees as visitors. It will showcase Gadwal Pochampally, Siddipet, IKKAT Pattu sarees and other handloom products.

Speaking about the upcoming mela, President of TFMC, Satyanarayana Mathala said, “Through these exhibitions, we will help the handloom sector sell clothes worth Rs 4 crore and we would like to organise one handloom mela in every IT Park.”

TFMC is also encouraging it’s IT employees to wear handlooms every Monday to support state government’s initiative of ‘Handloom Monday’.

‘Handloom Monday’ was a call given by the minister for IT KT Rama Rao to promote handlooms and support the weavers’ community by wearing handloom clothes every Monday.

The overall objective of TFMC is to organise 11 melas in the year 2023 and reach about 4 lakh, IT employees.  (KNN Bureau)
