Union Textiles Minister Reviews ITADCs and ATUFS Implementation;Launches KPI Portal to Track Sectoral Growth

New Delhi, Jul 10 (KNN) Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh reviewed key initiatives aimed at strengthening India's textile ecosystem, including the transformation of Integrated Textile and Apparel Development Centres (ITADCs) and the implementation of the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (ATUFS).

The Minister reviewed the conversion of erstwhile Powerloom Service Centres into ITADCs, which are being developed as one-stop centres offering skill development, testing, design support, technology adoption, entrepreneurship development, credit facilitation, export promotion and market linkages for textile entrepreneurs and MSMEs.

During the first quarter of FY 2026-27, ITADCs trained over 1,170 trainees, reached nearly 1,770 textile units through outreach programmes, facilitated institutional credit, strengthened e-commerce linkages and promoted commercialisation of fibres including bamboo, hemp, flax, banana and pineapple.

The review also covered the performance of ATUFS, under which 10,061 textile units have received subsidy support of Rs 2,776 crore, leveraging investments of over Rs 53,121 crore.

The scheme has facilitated the installation of nearly 6.7 lakh benchmarked textile machines and generated around 3.6 lakh direct jobs.

According to an independent impact assessment, every Rs 1 crore of subsidy under ATUFS mobilised nearly Rs 19 crore in private investment and created around 130 direct jobs.

The study also found that 46 per cent of the subsidy was availed by the weaving sector, while composite units accounted for nearly 1.7 lakh of the new jobs created.

During the meeting, the Minister inaugurated the revamped website of the Office of the Textile Commissioner and launched a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Portal for ITADCs to enable real-time monitoring and performance benchmarking.

He also directed field offices to work closely with the Textile Committee, Export Promotion Councils, Textile Research Associations, State Governments and industry associations to improve implementation of government initiatives and outreach to textile enterprises.
