Wool Fab exhibition at Handloom Haat in New Delhi from 1 to 14 Feb

New Delhi, Feb 2 (KNN) The Ministry of Textiles is organising ‘Wool Fab’, an exclusive handloom exhibition of woollen product at Handloom Haat in New Delhi from Feb 1 to 14.

The Primary aim of the expo is to provide direct access to the handloom woollen weavers to market their products to consumers in various cities of India.

As per the official statement, there will be 75 stalls displaying products such as Bhujodi Shawl, Stoles, Chamak Shawl, Patang Shawl, Jari Mirror Shawl, Kanishawl, Pashmina Shawl, Woolen Dress Material, Stoles, Kullu Shawl, Muffler, Tweed, Himachal Cap, Ghongadi etc.

With the aim to promote high-quality woollen handloom products with zero defects and zero effect on the environment to encourage, the government had launched the “Handloom Mark” scheme and the “India Handloom Brand” scheme.

The artisans participating in the expo are encouraged to display the ‘Handloom Mark’ and ‘India Handloom Brand’ tag on the products, aiming to improve the earnings of the handloom weaver community, according to an official press note.

Along with the exhibition of handloom products, there will be live loom demonstrations.

The handloom sector of India consists of 35 lakh handloom workers. The art of handloom weaving has traditional values attached to it and each region has exquisite varieties.  (KNN Bureau)
