Chennai, Sept 2 (KNN) Hailing the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to form a consultative committee and extend state support of up to 25 per cent of project scheme for integrated textile processing development, the Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) said the move will help the industry.

TEA has said the Tamil Nadu government's decision to form a consultative committee, to be headed by textile minister Gokula Indira, will help the industry.

Welcoming the extension of state support of up to 25 per cent of project estimates under its scheme for integrated textile processing development, TEA President A Sakthivel said, "This was a major requirement for the improvement made in the process sector."

The government's new Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) policy would also help the industry, since more than 80 per cent of the garment sector falls under this category.

Around 20 per cent of the India's total export of ready-made garments is from Tamil Nadu. Tirupur is one of the biggest knitting clusters in India. (KNN Bureau)
