Traders must encourage women to start tech ventures: Union Minister Smriti Irani

New Delhi, Mar 8 (KNN) Union Minister Smriti Irani has urged the traders and business community to support and encourage women to do technology-related business and set up small and big industries.

"The work of women's empowerment will not be completed unless the domestic women in the country are motivated to work according to their ability even at the ground level,” she added.

She gave this statement at the Women Awards event organized by Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) held on Monday evening in New Delhi.

The Women and Child Development Minister also asked the traders community to make women self-reliant in trade & industry by providing them all possible facilities.

In the event 16 women from various parts of the country were honoured for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.

She emphasised that festivals in particular are the best occasion when art & skills of down trodden women are most visible and it’s easy to identify the products and the women entrepreneurs to encourage them to grow their business.

CAIT National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that we are connecting women with business and helping them in setting up domestic industries.

The women's wing of CAIT provides various types of support including finance to women working in small towns by motivating them to take up business and industry and enable them to make optimum usage of their skills. \
