TTAADC appoints skill development service provider to train 425 indigenous youths of Tripura

New Delhi, Aug 9 (KNN) Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has appointed a skill development service provider to train 425 indigenous youths of the state.

The chief executive member of the council, Radhacharan Debbarma, said, "We will train 425 youths to ensure better job opportunities for them.”

All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technologies, a skill development service provider, will start training them soon, he added.

The training program will be held in Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, North Tripura and South Tripura districts of the state.

As per the National Skills Qualification Framework standards, training will be imparted in rod binding, motor mechanic and few other trades.

The service provider has been working with the council for the past two years. It trained 450 youths in 2016-17 and 120 in 2017-18.

Director Siddharth Chaturvedi said, "Tripura has the highest unemployment rate in the country according to the 5th Employment and Unemployment Survey (2015-16). These statistics are very troubling. Public and private authorities should focus on improving the situation."

Formed in 1982, the council constitutes two-thirds of the geographical area of Tripura and is home to 19 indigenous communities, which together account for one-third of the state's population.
