Two-day Bengal Global Business Summit to focus on MSME sector

Kolkata, April 18 (KNN) The two-day Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) scheduled to take place from April 20-21 will focus on MSMEs and is expected to attract the large investments as compared to other sectors.

The BGBS is set to take place after a hiatus of three years due to the covid-19 pandemic, and the other sectors which will be highlighted this year are mining, agriculture and allied activities, IT/ITeS, infrastructure and tourism.

As per media reports, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and has invited him to inaugurate the summit. However a confirmation is yet to be received from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

A 49 member delegation consisting of senior officials from the United Kingdom ranging from businesses, institutions and universities is also expected to attend the summit.  

Overall delegates from over 35 countries are anticipated to attend the event at the Kolkata Science City.  

The last edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit was held in Digha in 2019 which was attended by over 4,000 delegates and the volume of business proposed in the earlier five editions collectively amounted to Rs 12,35,578 crore. (KNN Bureau)
