Two year master programme in life skill education

Chennai, Apr 30 (KNN) Sriperumbudur based Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) is running programmes for life skill education among other disciplines, an area of promise given the skill shortages in the industry.
The programmes to some extent would meet the skill gap in the state; owing to the fact that while the country’s economic growth has created huge employment demand and job opportunities, shortage of skills is making more people unemployable.
According to reports, India would have to prepare 15 million youth per annum with skills that are required to maintain an annual growth rate of 8 per cent, a very big challenge to maintain the demand and supply.
They also suggest that India lacks sufficient skilled workers as its existing vocational training system does not target the casual or informal workforce, which constitutes over 90 per cent of India’s working population.
RGNIYD is offering two years Master’s degree programmes in Youth Empowerment, career counselling, local governance, gender studies, life skills education and development practice.
The course curricula at RGNIYD are customized to provide knowledge and information from interdisciplinary viewpoints that merge the various aspects of contemporary social theory and thought.
Along with training in the process of academic scholarship, the Institute also provides the students with opportunities to innovate, and to convert academic knowledge into hands-on experience in both rural and urban environments.
All the post graduate courses on youth studies and PhD programmes at RGNIYD have one clear distinct focus: to transform its students into career professionals both for the public and the private sector. (KNN/ES)
