Union Minister Gadkari encourages jewellery industry to boost MSME driven exports

Mumbai, April 5 (KNN) The jewellery industry must enhance their role in increasing the exports by micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs), said Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari.

Speaking on the second day of the four day jewellery expo, he said to achieve the self-reliant dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi India has to increase the share of exports by micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs). 

He highlighted the huge contribution of MSMEs in the growth of the country.

“MSMEs made us self-reliant by creating 11 crore jobs as the segment contributes 30 per cent to India’s total GDP growth and 40 per cent to the total exports,“ the minister added. 

Wishing jewellers community success in the international market, he said there is more potential in the world especially after COVID-19. 

Speaking on the occasion Ashish Pethe, chairman, All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), said, “We are trying to protect, progress and promote since past 17-18 years of our inception. This show is for promotion of the industry where we can share our ideas in the best possible manner.
