Union Minister Mandaviya stresses on import reduction of pharma and medical devices to boost domestic manufacturing

New Delhi, April 23 (KNN) Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, & Health and Family Welfare has called for reduction in imports of pharma and medical devices to promote local manufacturing. 

He said to meet the critical requirements of the country, India’s dependency on import for pharma and medical devices must be reduced.

Addressing the curtain raiser press conference on the 7th edition of India Pharma & Indian Medical Device 2022, Dr Mandaviya said that the domestic manufacturing needs to scale up as we want to dominate the world and our aim is not to be dependent on anyone.

In order to increase the production of patented drugs manufacturing in India, both innovation and research is required, he added. 

To bring more innovation and research, the government is taking various steps and soon the government will announce a policy also in this regard, noted Dr Mandaviya.

The 7th International Conference on ‘India Pharma & India Medical Device 2022’ will be organised by Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) from April 25-27. (KNN Bureau)
